Rigidized® Metals offers environmentally-friendly architectural materials that are corrosion-resistant and durable, containing high recycled content and recapture rates. This extended service life further reduces resource consumption.
Selecting and properly maintaining the appropriate alloy ensures that Rigidized products maintain high performance throughout the project’s lifespan.
Performance
Stainless steel efficiently reflects solar energy, helping to offset global warming and the urban heat island effect. Unlike finishes that patina or paints that oxidize, hydrophobic stainless steel surfaces retain their original solar reflectance and energy efficiency throughout their service life. InvariMatte®’s dirt-resistant surface shows no degradation over 10 years, minimizing the impact of dirt on solar reflectance.
Metals have relatively low embodied energy compared to many other materials. Specifying and designing metal materials to reflect solar radiation increases building efficiency and helps cool urban environments.
Recycling
Metals are highly recyclable; both stainless steel and aluminum are 100% recyclable. Local scrap sourcing reduces transportation needs, and the high value of metal scrap, especially stainless steel and aluminum, helps keep metals out of landfills. Many metal components that remain serviceable at the end of their intended life can also be reused.
Stainless steel contains 75% recycled content and is fully recyclable without loss of quality. Unlike copper, zinc, and lead, it does not generate biocide runoff.
Reduction
Down-gauging and weight reduction in engineered metal surfaces improve architectural efficiency. Higher strength-to-weight ratios use less material while maintaining performance, reducing transportation, installation, and material costs.
By sourcing most input materials from US-based suppliers, we reduce energy consumption for transportation and manufacturing compared to many competitors.
Choose products designed to last the full lifespan of the building or application. Durable, low-maintenance materials reduce environmental impact and deliver long-term value for building owners.
